We exhibited our Stonini decorative wall panels at the FRONT architecture and design event at Carriageworks, Sydney. Our panels are designed and hand-manufactured in Australia, and visitors said it was refreshing to find a unique, locally made product in the marketplace.
Material Perception: Messing with the Mind
One fascinating aspect of Stonini is its ability to mess with your material perception. Depending on the colour, texture and patterning of the panels, people perceive Stonini to be sandstone, marble, concrete, and even wood. Visitors to the FRONT display were able to see full-size Stonini panels up close and experience this for themselves.
Kale has leapt off the plate and onto walls as a colour trend for this spring-summer. Green symbolises nature and as an interior design element can have a calming effect. Kale is a go-to ingredient in salads and smoothies and now a go-to colour for creating interiors that promote tranquillity.
Stonini™ Pitted Concrete panels in ‘lava lava’ add warmth to a communal office space
Red has swamped the runways this season, and now you can bring this warm, sensual colour into your interiors with Stonini™ Pitted Concrete panels in ‘lava lava’.
Stonini™ Pitted Concrete offers an industrial concrete look without the without the weight, inflexibility and onsite logistical problems of actual concrete. Plus, you can simply paint over Stonini™ decorative wall panels if you want to alter the aesthetic down the track.
While interior designers’ love of concrete has not diminished, they are now looking to soften the industrial look. So Stonini is offering its Pitted Concrete panels in five colourways plus basic concrete.
Bauhaus is an earthy green and an ideal background for contrasting oranges and wood tones. Lava lava is a spicy autumnal hue that can look fresh all year round. Domino is approaching black and again provides a wonderful complement to a confident palette.
The two “safer” colourways are Ivory and Half-stonewashed. These shades will help capitalise on natural light. Half-stonewashed is a spin on classic white, while Ivory adds a bit of sunshine to the white palette.
Like all Stonini wall panels, Pitted Concrete panels are lightweight, handcrafted, eco friendly and non-combustible. Plus, installation is simple. Panels can be cut to size with a panel saw with a tungsten blade and are affixed with a good industrial adhesive.

In the spirit of a digital detox, designers are embracing imperfection and so we’ve added Pitted to the Stonini Concrete Effects Range.
Pitted Stonini panels are deliberately crafted to have tiny cavities appear on the surface, similar to the pitting that occurs in concrete castings.
Like all our decorative wall panels, Pitted panels are lightweight, handcrafted, eco friendly and non-combustible. Plus, installation is simple. Panels can be cut to size with a panel saw with a tungsten blade and are affixed with a good industrial adhesive.
Stonini Concrete Effects panels complement the trending colours for 2017: terracottas, muted saffrons and botanical greens.

Custom Stonini panels grace the foyer of The Stanley in Port Moresby
Papua New Guinea is a relatively unknown but fast-developing country. In September PNG celebrated the opening of The Stanley, an 18-storey 5-star hotel in central Port Moresby.
Sydney-based Boss Design International was responsible for the interior design of the luxury project. Director, Wooin Kang, commissioned Stonini to fabricate custom panels with a tribal design for the impressive lobby.
Boss Design is “focused on bringing together the strengths of traditional and contemporary approaches” and the striking foyer space with its rain tree columns, cascading lights and tribal frieze exemplify this ethos.
Wooin Kang says, “The lobby is the impression of the life rooted in the soil of PNG,”

The Arcare Aged Care philosophy is to celebrate longevity by nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of its residents. Accordingly, Arcare properties look more like 5-star accommodations than your standard aged care facilities.
In this project, Cabana wall panels from the Stonini™ 3D Profiles range add warmth and texture to the corridors and common rooms. Stonini™ wall panels are durable, low maintenance, waterproof, and non-combustible making them ideal for high traffic areas.
The lightweight nature of Stonini™ (approx panel weight 14kg) means the panels are equally suitable for walls and ceilings. For wall applications panels are affixed with an industrial epoxy; for ceiling applications some mechanical fixing provides added assurance.
